What’s on this webpage?

This webpage displays information about NIH’s active patent commercial licenses; that is, licenses granted to external partners for the development and commercialization of patented technologies from NIH’s Intramural Research Program.

What license data are included?

Field NameDescription
IDNIH ID number for the license
LEAD ICNIH Institute or Center having primary responsibility for the license
LICENSEEEntity granted rights under the license
TERRITORY

The geographic region(s) for which rights have been granted. Possible values: 

  • US (United States of America) 
  • Worldwide
  • Foreign (region(s) other than the US)
  • Other (any territory not adequately described above)
EXCLUSIVITY

The extent to which the granted patent rights are exclusive to the licensee, subject to limitations such as territory or field of use. Possible values:

  • Exclusive
  • Non-Exclusive
  • Co-Exclusive (rights are shared among two or more licensees)
FISCAL YEARThe federal government fiscal year in which the license was executed; it runs from October 1 of one calendar year through September 30 of the next.
EXECUTION DATEThe date of signature by all parties.
EFFECTIVE DATEExecution date, or another date as specified in the license.
TECHNOLOGY IDNIH ID Number of the technology; generally, one technology ID number represents one patent family.
EXPORT DATE

The date on which the license data were last exported.

The Technology Abstract ID and title of the licensed technology(s), linked to the corresponding published technology abstract on the Technology Transfer Community website. If this field is blank, no abstract is currently available on the website.

Yes. The fields that can be filtered are shown at the top of the list; you may select one or more values for each field, and filter on multiple fields.  Most columns can be sorted by clicking on the blue column headers.
